I am a deeply superficial person

This is an Andy-Warholised version of myself. It would be great if Andy Warhol could paint me, but well, I'm not famous. And I think he only digs famous people, so I shall just dream on it.

Mass production and art. Hmmm...

There were quite a lot of surprises at the exhibition, and although it wasn't a showcase of ALL of his art (that would be overwhelming), I think it was rather worth the 10 sing dollars I paid. And yes, point proven, Andy Warhol is the 'Cool' in art. He's like even edgier than Agyness Deyn, and I regret having put them both on the same pedestal in judging. He's like OMG BIG. He's autistic, gay, famous and a pop artist. Beat that.

I think you could call him a fashion icon. I saw some black and white photos of him in his daily wear and he was suave and trendy. And that hair. WOW. I think the most surprising thing was that I saw this series of works named "After Munch" and realised Warhol was once inspired by Edvard Munch (HE'S MY FAVOURITE ARTIST), so he produced a series of artworks based on Munch's artworks. Pop art and expressionism combined totally blew me away. Coz I didn't know.

Here's some of my favourite Warhols I saw at the exhibition:

Well, this was my favourite. Marx Brothers by Warhol. Very simple, but very classy. Straight to the point, that's Warhol for you.

This is from the "After Munch" series, Eva Mudocci. On display was also a Munch's self-portrait. I found out later that Warhol painted "Madonna" and "The Scream" too, classics of Munch.

Then, there's the Red Lenin. There was also a White Lenin. But I like Red Lenin more.

This whole series of Mick Jagger. I HEART THEM. I want them on my walls. And there's the famous album design for Rolling Stones' "Sticky Fingers":

Creative, and funny. Very Rock and rolling stones. You have to see the real thing, because on the real album, there's a REAL ZIP.

There were a lot of ad designs done by Warhol which I think were totally cool and innovative. Well, can't help it coz he started off as an ad illustrator.

Another work that caught me off-guard because it was a little 'un-warholish':

Quite a tensed-up and depressing piece of work. It gave me that feeling.

I was then looking at some quotes by Andy Warhol and then I thought to myself, this guy has a funny bone in him. He's humorous and talented. He shouldn't be gay, he should be my boyfriend. Here are some memorable quotes:

"Don't pay any attention to what they write about you. Just measure it in inches."

"Employees make the best dates. You don't have to pick them up and they're always tax-deductible."

"Fantasy love is much better than reality love. Never doing it is very exciting. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet." (I AGREE)

"I always wished I had died, and I still wish that, because I could have gotten the whole thing over with."

"I had a lot of dates but I decided to stay home and dye my eyebrows." (WTH. ROFL)

"I have Social Disease. I have to go out every night. If I stay home one night I start spreading rumours to my dog." (OMGOMG)

"Everybody's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic."

"I never think that people die. They just go to department stores." (RAWR)

"I'd asked 10 or 15 people for suggestions. Finally one lady friend asked the right question, "Well, what do you love most?" That's how I started painting money."

"My idea of a good picture is one that's in focus and of a famous person." (Haha, that's how superficial he is)

The rest of the day, I went to 西門町and shopped the day away. I bought a Sneeze windbreaker and a bag :) Shopping alone is fast and efficient. I see, I like, I buy. And, that is so sinful. Also, I ate Macs today. Yesterday, at Contemporary Film Theory class, the teacher showed us a montage slide, which had a delicious packet of Macs fries in it. Induced my craving, hence....

Forget it, more photos:

I bought two clear folders from the Andy Warhol exhibition. One with the Marx Brothers design (my favourite piece) and another of the classic Marilyn Monroe.

I managed to catch the 儀仗隊交接儀式。It was like fancy drill.

中正紀念堂。

The exhibition hall.

Chiang Kai Shek has a Cadillac.

No, he has two.

Very rich guy.

Perfect symmetry. The architecture are the same on both sides. I like.

Freedom Square.

This cute little boy was busy chasing pigeons in Freedom Square. I was busy snapping.

One of the pigeons.

I witnessed something hilarious today at Ximending. This old man was talking to his three squirrels. And he was ordering them to 'SIT'. I was like, "Squirrels can sit one meh?" And, "Squirrels like dog meh, can listen to command meh?" All the "mehs" came popping in my head. But, the squirrels were really quite obedient:

And they like hornily humping each other. :)

This is a very long entry, I realised. But it was an eventful day. I shall end with something out of the world but relevant to whelm you:

SEX GOD Marc Jacobs and his rendition of Andy Warhol. :0
